Team India has arrived in Australia to prepare for the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy, set to commence on November 22, 2024. Captain Rohit Sharma, who recently welcomed a baby boy, is expected to join the team ahead of the first Test. Accompanying him will be experienced pacer Mohammed Shami, who made his competitive cricket return during the Ranji Trophy 2024.

While Rohit Sharma will leave prior to the opener of the series, Dainik Bhaskar reports that Mohammed Shami might join the team during the time of the second Test match. The depth to the Indian side of the fast bowling will be added through a remarkable domestic performance of Shami.

Mohammed Shami marked his return to domestic cricket with a stellar performance for Bengal against Madhya Pradesh in the Ranji Trophy 2024. The veteran fast bowler dismantled Madhya Pradesh’s batting lineup, claiming figures of 4/54 in 19 overs in the first innings, including crucial dismissals of Shubham Sharma, Saransh Jain, Kumar Karthikeya, and Kulwant Kejroliya. He followed this up with three more wickets in the second innings. Shami also made an impact with the bat, scoring 37 runs off 36 balls, including two fours and two sixes.

The five-match test between India and Australia will start from 22 to 26 November. The test would be at Perth. The second test would be an International Test Spy affair held at the Adelaide Oval from December 6 to December 10. The third test match will take place at the Brisbane’s Gabba Ground from December 14 to 18 while the fourth test will be held at the Melbourne Cricket Ground from December 26-30. The last and final test would be held at the Sydney Cricket Ground from January 3-7, 2025.
