Rahul Hits Eighth Test and 17th International Century in Centurion.
The match saw the fall of the eight Test centuries and the seventeenth international century of KL Rahul, India’s wicket-keeper batter, from India’s tour to South Africa in Centurion. This would be his third international century this year, building on what seems to be awesome form since his return at Asia Cup 2023.
Rahul, who made his international debut with a hundred against Australia at the SCG in 2015, cleared several unique brackets. He is a proud owner of ODI debut century and remains the first batter to have a T20I century batting on No. 4 or lower.

Additionally, Rahul is now the first overseas batter to hit two Test centuries at SuperSport Park, Centurion. Notably, seven out of his eight Test centuries have been scored in overseas conditions. With this latest ton, he has also become only the second Indian wicket-keeper after Rishabh Pant to achieve a Test hundred in SENA (South Africa, England, New Zealand, Australia) nations.

KL Rahul Excels in New Middle-Order Role
KL Rahul has embraced his new role as a middle-order batter, proving his adaptability across different formats, conditions, and batting positions. Although it was only once in his beginning innings that Rahul batted outside the top-order position since his Test debut, now nine years later, he has successfully made a shift into the middle-order wicket-keeper batter position.
Rahul’s ability to bask in challenging conditions in India-‘thin on 92 sup’ and countering each fiery pace delivery of South African pace to a distance in Centurion on a tricky surface, made him so great. Rahul just flayed his loose balls on aggression instead of taking the defensive route under these batting conditions.

Alongside tail-enders, assigning him a critical role in ensuring competitiveness within India’s total, not hampering the strike. Rahul centuryed the right way, as he reached that landmark by making a six.
Ravi Shastri Hails Rahul’s Knock as His Best Test Century
Former head coach of India, Ravi Shastri part of the commentary team for SuperSport in the match termed Rahul’s innings as his best Test century. This performance under these conditions and in this match situation facing and against this bowling certainly must be among Rahul’s best in the longer format.
Thus, this latest overseas century from Rahul silences his critics regarding his inconsistent form in Tests in the recent past and further endorses him as a critical part of Indian Test cricket.
