Career
His performance in the Vijay Hazare Trophy caught the eye of Kolkata Knight Riders, who signed Venkatesh Iyer in 2021 for ₹20 lakhs. He got his maiden IPL entry in 2021 against the Royal Challengers Bangalore, opening the batting with Shubman Gill, and scored 41 runs from 27 balls to chase down the score for his side’s success.
Venkatesh Iyer was hailed for his courageous showing by none other than Virat Kohli himself. Iyer, in a few words given during an interview, said he learned his batting techniques from the captain of the Indian national cricket team. Looking forward to the IPL 2023 game against the Gujarat Titans, Venkatesh scored 83 off just 40 balls and showed his aggressive batting style.
