Considered one of the best Turkish volleyball players, Zehra Güneş is a middle blocker. She towers at 197 centimeters (about 6 feet 5.5 inches) and weighs 84 kilograms (about 185 pounds). She currently plays for VakıfBank Istanbul and has an important role in the national team for women of Turkey. Zehra joined the national team in March 2018 and participated in the 2018 FIVB Women’s Volleyball Nations League, where Turkey bagged a silver medal. Zehra was also part of Turkey’s Tokyo 2020 Olympic team, finishing fifth in the event.

Early Life and Career
Zehra was born on July 7, 1999, in Kartal, Istanbul, Turkey, a child prodigy beginning her education in volleyball from the very start.She was loaned to Beşiktaş J.K. In 2016-17, she played with the Turkish Women’s Volleyball League season team, returning the following year to VakıfBank Istanbul. Puis, she made her professional debut in the 2017-18 season and won her first league title with VakıfBank.

Zehra achieved some accomplishments in her career with many prestigious titles under her belt.She was part of the Turkish U23 women’s team that clinched the 2017 FIVB U23 Women’s Volleyball World Championship in Slovenia. She also helped VakıfBank Istanbul win the CEV Women’s Champions League (2017-18) and secured a gold medal at the 2017 FIVB World Club Championship.

Achievements and Recognition
Zehra first gained international recognition when she was named the Best Middle Blocker at the 2015 FIVB Girls’ U18 Volleyball World Championship in Peru. She also played in the 2015 European Youth Summer Olympic Festival in Georgia. In the 2017-18 Turkish Women’s Volleyball League, she received the “Special Vestel Award” for her outstanding performance.
