Veditha Reddy, an accomplished IAS officer, secured 71st rank in the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2014 list of successful candidates. She was born of Reddy Shanthi Kumari, the president of YSR Congress Party (YSRCP), Srikakulam, and Reddy Nagabhushan Rao, who is an officer in the Karnataka Forest Department, onto whom Veditha’s success reflects her hard work and a family of substantial means.

She was brought up at Dharmanagar and Delhi Sanskriti Vidyalaya for her elementary and secondary schooling. Then she got an engineering degree in Electronics and Communications from a college in Noida. At the same time she was pursuing education, Veditha pitched herself for her mother’s political campaign during the Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections in 2014. This made her think of being of service to the public by solving social justice issues.
Her optional paper in UPSC was Anthropology for someone who graduated in Engineering, mainly because she liked the subject, though it is a very popular choice for many aspirants each year. Her strategy was hard work, discipline, and vision towards her doing the nation’s public service.
Family support made the way to a successful journey. Her mother indeed turned out to be the greatest inspiration. Veditha thanked her parents for pushing her to pursue her motives and helping her contemporarily sail through preparations for UPSC examinations. She has been appointed Deputy Commissioner (HQ) of the Revenue Department after qualifying for the examination and later transferred to Andaman and Nicobar Administration.
At a tender age of 23, Veditha has proved herself an efficient officer and a well committed person in social service, imparted by values learned from her family.
