Age and Early Life
Deepika Kumari was born on June 13, 1994, in Ratu Chatti village, near Ranchi, Jharkhand. Deepika Kumari is currently 30 years old as of 2025. She had a modest upbringing; her mother Geeta was working as a nurse in Ranchi Medical College and her father Shiv Charan Prajapati, an auto-rickshaw driver. Deepika was practicing archery initially by lack of fund with home-made bows from bamboo and arrows. Her archery was facilitated by her cousin Vidya Kumari, also a student of the Tata Archery Academy.

Career

Deepika became a professional archer in 2006 when she enrolled at the Tata Archery Academy in Jamshedpur. Her biggest success was in 2010 when she won two gold medals in the Delhi Commonwealth Games—individual recurve and team, both with Bombayala Devi and Dola Banerjee. She was a World No. 1 ranking in women’s recurve archery in 2012. She has represented India in several Olympic Games and won many medals in World Cup events over the years. Awards and Honors

Personal Life
Deepika Kumari married Indian archer Atanu Das on 30 June 2020. The couple had a daughter named Vedika in December 2022.
