Simran Bagga, who was born as Rishibala Naval on April 4, 1976, hails from Mumbai and is a renowned Indian actress and television personality. While a major part of her acting career is comprised of very popular movies in Tamil, she has also acted in a number of films in Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada. Having thus far acted in more than 150 films in a career spanning over two decades, Simran is counted among the most versatile and successful actresses of Indian cinema.
Early Life and Upbringing

Simran is raised in a Punjabi family in Mumbai and is daughter of Ashok and Sharda Naval. She has three siblings, Sumith, Monal, and Jyothi Naval. She did her schooling at St. Anthony’s High School, Versova, and later obtained a degree in Bachelor of Commerce. Multilingual, including Punjabi, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and English, trained in classical Bharatanatyam, and adept in Salsa.
Entry into Films

Simran gained popularity when she hosted the music show Superhit Muqabla. Her presence on television caught the attention of movie producers and made her debut in Bollywood with Sanam Harjai in 1995, the first-ever Indian film shot in New Zealand. Then she acted in Tere Mere Sapne and Muqaddar in 1996 and set her foot gradually in south Indian movies.
She debuted in the Malayalam film industry with Indraprastham (1996), then entered Kannada and Telugu with Simhada Mari and Abbai Gari Pelli, respectively, in 1997. Simran’s entry into Tamil was through V.I.P and Once More in 1997.
Career

Within no time, Simran became one of the most sought-after actresses in the South Indian film industry. Some of her best Tamil films include Vaali, Thulladha Manamum Thullum, Kannathil Muthamittal and Vaaranam Aayiram. She was part of some major Telugu films such as Kalisundam Raa, Nuvvu Vastavani and Okka Magadu. Her acting talent fetched her many awards including Filmfare Awards South, Tamil Nadu State Film Awards, and the prestigious Kalaimamani Award.
Apart from films, Simran has actuated programs in television, hosted and appeared in shows like Simran Thirai, Agni Paravai, and Sundarakanda. Some of the brand endorsements that have represented Simran range from campaigns with Fanta and Kurkure, Pillsbury as well as Sugar Free Gold.
Personal Life

In 2003, Simran married Deepak Bagga, a family friend. The couple has two sons, Adheep and Aadit. Thereafter, she took a small break from acting to settle into her household but made a remarkable comeback with roles that defied age stereotyping.
