Konidela Siva Sankara Vara Prasad, or Chiru as all know him, occupies a unique place in Indian cinema and politics. August 22, 1955, finds him born at Mogalthur, Andhra Pradesh, where he has created an everlasting impact on Telugu cinema and beyond.
Early Life and Education

Chiranjeevi was born to Konidela Venkata Rao and Anjana Devi. He studied at C.S.R. Sharma College in Ongole and completed his education with a B.Com from Sri Y.N. College, Narsapur. With a longing for acting, he joined the Madras Film Institute for further polishing and preparation before entering into the acting field.
Film Career

Chiranjeevi debuted acting in the film Punadhirallu in 1978, which was soon followed by the movie Pranam Khareedu, thus gaining fame in his first year of acting. He rose to fame for his irresistible dance and most macho action, which became his thing and he was then more famously known as the “Mega Star.” Chiranjeevi’s other prominent films include Gharana Mogudu, Indra, Tagore, and Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy. He has acted in over 150 films predominantly in Telugu cinema, but he has won countless awards including the Padma Bhushan in 2006 and Padma Vibhushan in 2024
Political Journey
In 2008, Chiranjeevi founded Pragya Rajyam Party in Andhra Pradesh. The party won 18 seats in the 2009 state elections. In 2011 it merged with Indian National Congress, and in 2012 Chiranjeevi was appointed as the Union Minister of State for Tourism, a position he retained till 2014.
Philanthropy

On October 2, 1998, Chiranjeevi established the Chiranjeevi Charitable Trust (CCT), which encompasses a blood bank and an eye bank. The trust has collected over 930,000 units of blood, with 79% distributed free of cost to those in need. Additionally, the eye bank has facilitated numerous cornea transplants, restoring sight to many individuals .​
Personal Life

Chiranjeevi is married to Surekha, the daughter of veteran actor Allu Ramalingaiah. They have three children, including Ram Charan, a well-known actor in Telugu cinema. Chiranjeevi’s family is deeply rooted in the film industry, with several members, including his brothers Nagendra Babu and Pawan Kalyan, being prominent figures in cinema and politics .​
