Sunidhi Chauhan: Versatile Voice
Early Life and Education
Sunidhi Chauhan was born on August 14, 1983, in New Delhi, India. She had a highly culturally influenced background. Her father, Dushyant Kumar Chauhan, was in theatre, and her mother was a housewife. Sunidhi found early inspiration from her surroundings and the support of her mother and began singing at a very early age. She attended Green Way Modern School but later left school to go all out into music.


Career Beginnings and Breakthrough
The 13-year-old Sunidhi began her foray into playback singing when she sang at the 40th Filmfare Awards with the troupe called Little Wonders. Observing her potential, Aadesh Shrivastava, the music director, gave her some singing assignments in Shastra (1996). But the real break came from the song “Ruki Ruki Si Zindagi” in Misterji (1999), which became a common household name. She obtained the Lata Mangeshkar Trophy on the DD National show Meri Awaz Suno, which further endowed her with undeniable supremacy.


Rise to Stardom
She churned out one hit after the other during the 2000s like “Dhoom Machale”, “Beedi Jalaile” and “Crazy Kiya Re.” With such a range, she recorded romantic, seductive, and even item numbers. Working with top names in the composing world like Anu Malik, Pritam, Vishal-Shekhar and Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, she now has a repertoire that surpasses 2000 songs in different Indian languages.. In 2010, she became the first Indian singer to collaborate with Enrique Iglesias, marking an international milestone.


Personal Life and Recognition
Sunidhi was previously married to choreographer Bobby Khan, a relationship that ended within a year. She later married music composer Hitesh Sonik in 2012, and they have a son named Tegh. She has received several prestigious awards including Filmfare, Zee Cine, and Mirchi Music Awards. In 2014, she was honored with the Dadasaheb Phalke Academy Award.
