Early Life and Background
Vaibhav comes from a poor agricultural family. His own father Sanjiv Suryavanshi, who was himself a club cricketer, recognized his talent for the first time at a young age and made enormous personal sacrifices to develop his cricketing life. He even sold things to sponsor Vaibhav’s practice in Patna. His mother played an extremely prominent part in his day-to-day life, balancing for him equal amounts of studies and games. - Debut Classique: In his debut on 12 years and 284 days, he made his debut for Bihar against Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy in January 2024 and was among the youngest of all the players to have ever played in the history of the tournament.
- List A and T20 Debut: First made List A cricket debut in Vijay Hazare Trophy and T20 cricket debut in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy at 13 years, both being the youngest Indian to play both these versions.
- Under-19 Performances: Vaibhav scored his first 58-ball hundred for India U-19 in the match against Australia U-19 in September 2024, the fastest by an Indian in youth Tests. Vaibhav also added India to the final of the ACC Under-19 Asia Cup, giving stable performances against UAE and Sri Lanka.
IPL Breakthrough
Vaibhav made history in November 2024 as the youngest cricketer in history to be auctioned in an IPL. He was acquired by Rajasthan Royals from Delhi Capitals at โน1.1 crore.
He debuted for Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL on April 19, 2025, scoring a six off his maiden ball and scoring 34 off 20 balls. He then scored a century of 35 balls against Gujarat Titans nine days later, the youngest to have achieved an IPL century and the quickest Indian to achieve this feat.
