Early Life & Background
Ajay Singh Bisht, born on 5th June 1972 at Panchur (now Uttar Pradesh, formerly known as Uttarakhand), Yogi Adityanath is a Garhwali Rajput. He is the son of Savitri Devi and the late Anand Singh Bisht, a forest ranger, who died in April 2020 . He is one of seven children (four brothers, three sisters) .

Adityanath graduated in B.Sc. Mathematics from Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University in 1992 . He was in the early 1990s an advocate of the Ayodhya Ram Janmabhoomi movement and a follower of Mahant Avaidyanath and later became Mahant of Gorakhnath Math in September 2014 .
