Diljit Dosanjh was born as Daljeet Dosanjh on January 6, 1984, in the village of Dosanjh Kalan in the Jalandhar district of Punjab. From a simple family background, his father, Balbir Singh, used to work as a clerk with Punjab Roadways, while his mother Sukhwinder Kaur was a simple housewife. He grew up with an elder sister and a younger brother by the name of Manjeet Singh.

Diljit studied at Shri Guru Harkrishan Public School in Ludhiana and showed a keen interest in singing and performing from a young age. This love for music laid the foundation of a career in the music and film industries in Punjab and Bollywood, respectively.
