Fatema (Ghadially) was born on December 24, 1975, in Mumbai, Maharashtra. She was brought up in a Memon community, a close-knit family of Muslims. Moize and Abeda Ghadially, her parents, imparted to her strong morals, discipline, and a high respect for education. Her brother Mazhar Ghadially, a former Mumbai cricketer, was instrumental in connecting her to her future husband, Ajit Agarkar, a former Indian cricketer.
Fatema’s upbringing in the colorful South Mumbai atmosphere was a plus point for her, as it motivated her to have big dreams and to always try to be the best in the field she was working in.
Academic Excellence
Fatema, a gifted student since childhood, after finishing her schooling at Queen Mary High School in Mumbai, went on to secure a B.Com degree from Sydenham College of Commerce and Economics, where she was a state and university topper. She then proceeded to acquire an MBA in Strategic Management and Marketing from the University of Birmingham (UK). In 2020, she, alongside her husband Ajit, brought the Agarkar Centre of Excellence (ACE)—a project that intends to blend academic learning with sports training. Through ACE, children are taught to be confident, disciplined, and team players; they receive in-school programs, after-school academies, and specialized sports education.
Personal Life and Family
On February 9, 2002, Fatema tied the knot with Ajit Agarkar in a private ceremony that was both Muslim and Marathi Brahmin. They have one child, Raj Agarkar (born on October 13, 2005). Fatema practices active motherhood and is of the opinion that kids need a mixture of education, creativity, and sports in their upbringing.

In the course of time, Fatema has garnered several awards for her contribution to the education field, such as the Young Achiever’s Award (2017) and being listed among Education World’s Top 50 Educators.
