For the elite, what spirits are to many is but a step above a drink; they are investments, collectables, and symbols of great opulence. From centenarian cognacs to whiskies which are kept in diamond-encrusted vessels, we see the luxury alcohol world push at the boundaries of the extravagant. Value in these bottles is not only in the quality of what is within, but in the art of the packaging, which is often done in gold, platinum and rare gemstones.

That said, the Imperial, which is also known as “Imperiale”, is the largest of Lalique’s decanters, which they have made to date, at 6 litres, which in turn contributed to it breaking records at auction in Hong Kong.

Conclusion

These spirits are a different class of drink; they are symbols of wealth and taste. In the past, which is contained in each drop or in the diamonds that adorn them, what you owned was a mark of the ultimate exclusivity. As the market for luxury items expands, these fine wines and spirits only increase in value, which, for some, is the best drink that you never touch.
