Smriti Mandhana was born on 18 July 1996 at Mumbai, Maharashtra.

But she was raised mostly in Sangli, a smaller town in the same state.Her family was closely connected to cricket. Her father and brother played at the district level and watching them she fell in love with the game from a very young age.She began playing cricket at the age of six and was inspired by her brother and favourite cricketer, Kumar Sangakkara.She did her schooling in Shardashram Vidyamandir School and then studied in Chintaman Rao College of Commerce, Sangli, while balancing her studies and cricket training.

Smriti Mandhana made her debut for the Indian team at the age of 16 in 2013, playing against Bangladesh in an ODI match.
She scored 39 runs in that game.Over time, she set records, including becoming the first Indian woman to score a double century in an ODI match, when she scored 224 runs in a game for Maharashtra against Gujarat in the Women’s Challenger Trophy.

In the past 10 years, she has become one of the top openers in women’s cricket.
She has won two ICC Women’s Cricketer of the Year awards, in 2018 and 2021.She is the third highest run-scorer in ODIs for India, behind Mithali Raj and Harmanpreet Kaur, and the second highest in T20Is.She currently serves as the vice-captain of the Indian women’s team.
