Dhoni’s Elder Brother: A Politician
Dhoni’s elder brother, Narendra Singh Dhoni, was notably absent from his biopic, MS Dhoni: The Untold Story. Rumors of a strained relationship between the brothers circulated, but Narendra clarified that this was not true. Narendra left home when MS Dhoni was just 10 years old to pursue his studies at Kumaon University. While Dhoni chose to focus on cricket, Narendra eventually returned home in 2007, the same year he got married. He is now settled in Ranchi with his wife, daughter, and son.
Narendra ventured into politics, initially joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and later aligning with the Samajwadi Party. Reflecting on his absence from the biopic, he stated, “Although I may have had moral contributions in Mahi’s life, showcasing it in the film would have been challenging.”
Dhoni’s Sister: A Key Support System
Unlike his brother, Dhoni’s elder sister, Jayanti Gupta, was featured in the biopic. She has been a steadfast supporter throughout Dhoni’s journey to cricketing stardom. When their father was hesitant about Dhoni pursuing cricket as a career, it was Jayanti who convinced him to support her younger brother’s aspirations.
Jayanti’s Connection to Dhoni’s Friend
Jayanti is married to Gautam Gupta, one of Dhoni’s childhood friends. Gautam played a crucial role in supporting Dhoni during his early days in cricket, especially at the state and district levels. He works in the real estate sector and resides in Ranchi with Jayanti. Despite being closely connected to Dhoni’s life, Jayanti prefers to stay out of the public eye. She leads a modest life and works as a teacher at a public school in Ranchi.
