An emerging talent of Indian cricket and making waves in the Indian Premier League (IPL) is left-handed batsman Abhishek Sharma, who is slowly building a reputation for himself while waiting for the India colors.

A Star in the Making

Having sporadic appearances between 2019 and 2021, his career received a major turnaround starting IPL 2022. The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) promoted him to the top of the order, which turned out to be a masterstroke for his performance. With 426 runs and a strike rate of over 130, he had a good season with two well-made half-centuries. Although he put in fewer matches this year in 2023, his hitting stayed intact with a strike rate of above 140.

With the 2024 IPL giving additional weight to his growing stature as a power hitter, he has scored 401 runs this season at a booming strike rate of over 205. During a recent game against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), he had a top score of 75 not out.

A Private Personal Life Amid Romance Speculation

Even while the on-field heroics of Abhishek continue to hit the headlines, his personal life is rarely revealed. There have been rumors of a relationship with Diya Mehta, a former runner-up for Miss Rajasthan (2019).

Diya, a model and a fashion stylist, was also seen at an SRH photoshoot with Abhishek, which only fueled the fire of speculation. To add to the buzz, she put up a funny Instagram story, giving some vibes of fancying the cricketer.

Her caption read:

“Is your name Abhishek Sharma? Because when I see you, I feel like I’ve touched a century full of happiness.”

However, neither one of the two has spoken about the alleged relationship, which apparently cricketer Abhishek Sharma wanted to keep out of the spotlight and focus on his career.

But whether in speculation or otherwise, one thing is clear, and that is Abhishek Sharma is the man to watch in Indian cricket!
