BK Shivani is born in Pune, Maharashtra on May 31, 1972, as Shivani Verma. She is known all over the world as a spiritual teacher, a motivational speaker, and a practitioner of Rajyoga meditation. People recognize and appreciate her contribution to this institution, Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University (BKWSU), and have been inspired by her teachings on self-empowerment, spirituality, and inner transformation.
Early Life and Education
BK Shivani’s journey into spirituality began at an early age as her parents were followers of the Brahma Kumaris. While she was exposed to spiritual teachings in her childhood, she actively started attending sessions in her early twenties.
Academically, she excelled in her studies and obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering from Savitribai Phule Pune University, where she was a gold medalist. She did her Master’s in Computer Engineering from the Maharashtra Institute of Technology. Initially, she did some behind-the-scenes work in the production of Brahma Kumaris’ TV programs in Delhi. Before devoting her life completely to spirituality, Shivani went through a set of difficult personal challenges, including issues with anger and a significant mother-daughter conflict. However, she decided to take the seven-day foundational course at a Brahma Kumaris center after observing the immense change in her mother’s personality as a result of her practice of spirituality. Inspired by these teachings, she made frequent visits to the center and, soon thereafter, began the path of Rajyoga meditation that would draw her even deeper into divine wisdom.
The scientific background made it possible for her to develop her own special approach in understanding and articulating spiritual concepts. She became increasingly much part of the Brahma Kumaris mission, giving and taking benefit in the vision for a better and more peaceful world.
Awakening TV Series and Global Relevance
BK Shivani became the face of “Awakening with Brahma Kumaris” in 2007, a television show run in Aastha Channel. Initially meant for spiritual and emotional welfare, the program soon gained much acceptance across India and abroad. He discussed many penetrating themes revolving around emotional mastery, his philosophy on karma, self-discipline, and relationship management via this medium.
His mind-opening conversations with actor Suresh Oberoi from that show were synthesized in the 2015 title Happiness Unlimited: Awakening with Brahma Kumaris.
