Early Life and Musical Preparation
Arijit Singh was born on 25 April 1987, in Jiaganj, Murshidabad, West Bengal, into a culturally rich environment. With a Punjabi father and a Bengali mother, music was inherent in his upbringing. He started his formal training to sing at an early age, under the supervision of his maternal grandmother. Afterward, he learned Indian classical music from Rajendra Prasad Hazari, and his early tabla lessons were with Dhirendra Prasad Hazari.

Entry Into the Industry and Path to Fame
Arijit appeared for the first time on the reality show Fame Gurukul in 2005, where he finished in the Top 6.. Though he didn’t win, it marked the beginning of his journey. After winning another reality show, 10 Ke 10 Le Gaye Dil, he used the prize money to set up his own recording studio. He worked behind the scenes composing jingles and producing music until he got his major break with the romantic track “Tum Hi Ho” from Aashiqui 2 (2013), which earned him national fame and his first Filmfare Award.

A Flourishing Career
After the year 2013, Arijit’s name and fame soared to the heights of those of the greatest playback singers in Bollywood. His performances that struck a chord amongst the listeners of songs, such as “Channa Mereya,” “Agar Tum Saath Ho,” “Gerua,” and “Ae Watan,” established his stature firmly in the industry. Arijit has worked with the topmost composers like Pritam, Jeet Gannguli, and Sanjay Leela Bhansali. His versatility ranges through genres from love ballads to ripped-off truth dance numbers.
Personal Life And Ventures
Arijit married his childhood friend Koel Roy in 2014. Despite his fame, he leads a very low-profile and humble life, usually favoring simplicity in his way. He is a father of two children, with whom he enjoys the company of in Murshidabad. Besides his singing career, Arijit has started his record label, Oriyon Music, in a bid to promote fresh talent and create original soundtracks.

Achievements and Recognition
Singh had won many awards, including several Filmfare awards and a National Award for “Binte Dil” from Padmaavat. He enjoys a massive fan following in India and abroad, with millions of followers on social media.
Less I-Know Facts
Although he owns a fleet of luxury cars and many great mansions, he does not use these often-out-of-choice to maintain earthiness. Interestingly, his first recording for Bollywood was “All For One” from High School Musical 2 (Hindi version), and then there is the fact that he is also notorious for rarely shaving-his subtle way of saying ‘simple.’
