If you ever wanted to switch from Jio to Airtel with your mobile number, Mobile Number Portability (MNP) can make this as easy as pie. This post will show you how to easily follow every step of the process, which is simple and really fast.

1. Check into Eligibility before you get started.

Before starting the porting process, note that:

  • Your Jio service has been on for at least 90 days.
  • All past due payments to Jio are settled.
  • You do not have any active contract or special plan that restricts porting.

If these criteria are not met, your request may be declined.

2. Create Your Personal Porting Code (UPC).

The UPC is required for porting:

    • From your Jio line, send a message:
    • PORT <10-digit mobile number> To 1900.
    • You will receive a UPC via SMS.

This code is valid for 4 days maximum; keep that in mind.

    3. Choose Prepaid or Postpaid with Airtel.

Which Airtel plan is right for you?

      • Prepaid: Great for quick top-ups and short-term requirements.
      • Postpaid: Fixed monthly bills include features like bundled data and entertainment subscriptions.

This is the area you will choose after activation.

      4. Place Your Port-In Request.

You can transfer your number to Airtel with either of these methods:.

        Option A: In the web

        • Visit the Airtel site or use the Airtel Thanks app.
        • Enter your product’s UPC and fill out your information.
        • Upload proof of your identity and address (Aadhaar is the most preferable).
        • Airtel will do the pick-up and verification of your SIM.

        Option B: In Store

        • Visit a local Airtel store with your proof of identity and proof of address.
        • Complete the KYC process in person.
        • Receive your new Airtel SIM immediately.

        5. Await the Activation.

          After submitting your request:

          • Within 48 hours.
          • Transitioning to a different state may take up to 4 days.

          6. Put in your Airtel SIM card

            • Remove your Jio card and put in your Airtel card.
            • If you are on prepaid, get on to one of our plans to begin.
            • Post-pay users will have charges applied in the first cycle.

            • Start the process early to keep your UPC valid.
            • Settle all your bills in advance to avoid rejection.
            • Make sure to keep your Jio SIM in the phone until the switch over is complete.
            • Have at hand your primary ID for KYC verification.

            Final Thoughts

Through these steps, you are able to port your number from Jio to Airtel with no issues. If what you are after is Airtel’s prepaid convenience or postpaid features, the MNP process also includes keeping your present number at the same time as you try out the new network. In only a few days, you will be fully switched over and ready to use your new Airtel services.
