A BTech program in India is for a total of 4 years, which is broken up into 8 semesters. In the first year, students are introduced to base subjects like engineering math, physics, chemistry, programming, and fundamental engineering principles.
As students advance through the curriculum, it becomes more specialised. In the final semesters, they include advanced subjects, electives, internships, major projects, seminars and practical training.
Eligibility for BTech
The eligibility criteria do differ between institutions and branches. As a rule, we see that which of Physics and Mathematics is taken up by the students along with Class 12 or equivalent is a given; the third subject, however, may vary by program and institution.

Admission may come through national-level exams such as JEE Main, state-level entrance exams, university-based tests, or by means of a merit system as per the college.
Students who have an accredited engineering degree also have the option of lateral entry, which allows them to join BTech in stage two into institutions that provide for that.
