MTV Splitsvilla 9: Full Cast and Crew
A Season Built Around Women
Splitsvilla 9 started on MTV India on 11 June 2016 with a twist in its tagline: “Where Women Rule.” The idea was simple. The girls got more say in who stayed, who left and who got dumped. After eight seasons of boys holding most of the power, it made the game feel different.
The Hosts
Rannvijay Singha and Sunny Leone were back in the host’s chair. Rannvijay was the show’s face from the first season, and Sunny joined him in later years. Together they became the most familiar duo in the franchise, and they continued hosting for many seasons afterwards.
Contestants and Winners
The season began with 26 contestants and ran for 21 episodes. Three girls held the queen’s title along the way: Martina first, then Rajnandini, then Kavya Khurana.
Two names defined the finale:
- Gurmeet Singh Rehal: A Roadies face before Splitsvilla, he was dumped by Rajnandini but came back into the game and ended up as the only and ultimate King.
- Kavya Khurana: She was the third queen of the season and went on to become the ultimate Queen.
The finale aired on 8 October 2016, and Gurmeet and Kavya took the crown together.
Crew and Production
Colosceum Media produced the season, and the Splitsvilla format itself was created by Purvish Bhatt. Filming took place at Jim Corbett National Park in Uttarakhand, a good match for a show built on outdoor tasks, jungle challenges and tense eliminations. Detailed credits for directors, writers and editors have not been widely published, so the end credits of the episodes are the best place to check.
How the Show Worked
The format was the same as in earlier seasons. Boys and girls were paired up, then tested through physical tasks, dates and emotional showdowns. Any pair could break apart when one partner dumped the other, and the survivors fought through to the finale to decide the King and Queen.
Ten Years On
It has been a decade since the season aired, and fans still talk about the Gurmeet and Kavya pairing, the women-first theme and the jungle setting. Current updates on the contestants are best found on their own social media pages.
