  • Abhinav Sardhar as Suri: Gives a dominating performance, adding depth and complexity to a character of subtlety.
  • Ram Karthik as Ram: Plays the part of an underdog but driven character, adding the subtlety of his character’s emotional journey.
  • Chandini Tamilarasan and Sherry Agarwal: Both the actresses are a part of the story, Chandini playing a village belle and Sherry providing glamour to the story.
  • Supporting Cast: Seasoned actors Suman and Subhalekha Sudhakar play a good supporting role, thereby increasing the overall impact of the film as much.

Direction and Screenplay

Director Venkatesh Triparna has a good idea about the “peanut diamond,” trying to mix science fiction with human drama. While the first half is good with interesting segments, the latter half disintegrates with stereotypical storytelling and tangled narration. A good script would have been fair enough to the movie.

Technical Aspects

  • Music: Bheems Ceciroleo has composed music suitable to the tone of the movie, although some songs are a discontinuity in the continuity of the story.
  • Cinematography: J. Prabhakara Reddy shoots the rural and urban settings well, employing mixed camera angles to aid the visual narration.
  • Editing: Edited by Basva Paidireddy, the editing was not to the mark, particularly in the second half, to make it consistent.

Ram Asur received criticism that predominantly followed lines. Although the film was enjoyed for its innovative concept and performances, especially of Abhinav Sardhar, it was criticized on the grounds of an inconsistent pace and story structure. The effort to integrate science fiction with traditional narration was termed ambitious but incomplete.

Box Office and Streaming Success

Rama Asur is an attempt to bring something new to Telugu cinema in the form of science fiction-emotional drama. Although the movie stumbles on the narration side, it’s a good effort and a product of great performances. It’s an experience worth watching if one is seeking experiential filmmaking in the regional cinema.
